Some colleges and universities have developed an aura of respectability (or conceitedness), a halo of superiority, and a sense of academic distinctiveness. Because of these, some institutions are glamorized and being put on the pedestal. This academic status (or halo) may be the result of long tradition, difficulty of entrance examination, long waiting list of candidates for admission, or it could be just all about a neatly woven propaganda. Attempts to rate (or advertise) universities according to certain predetermined elements are, in many ways, helpful. But those ratings (or advertisements) undeniably do not take into account other elements that are of greater importnace— the quality of unstruction, the personal influence of the faculty on the students, and the atmosphere of the institution itself.
To a large extent, institutions differ in real effectiveness of instruction, and there are some that possess a high prestige and merit it, while some are simply tagged as “lesser fancied school”. Leaders in all walks of life are by no means confined to being graduates of those so-called “high-ranking” schools. Undeniably, much depends upon what a student brings with himself, and being a graduate of such institutions guarantees nothing in the way of learning and success. After all, life is more than just about schools.
I am from New Era University. I am not from any of those “top” schools; but I’ve learned what I’m supposed to learn.

Hello. I happened to read one of the comments on this site. A certain person named Ana wants to know why CEU belongs to the top 20 premiere educational institutions in the country. Well, i find no reason why CEU should not be in this list. Escolarians are noted for being adept in their fields, not to mention the fact that most board topnotchers of the recent licensure examinations are graduates from CEU. Their philosophy, Ciencia y virtud, is also an imperative contrivance to the betterment of their students. they are taught to be appreciative of human values and aesthetics, which are way more important than the academic aspect.
I really don’t understand why many see it as a dubious circumstance of CEU’s being a prestigious and excellent university.
I am not studying in such university, but I’ve seen its potentials to be in this list.
